Further information about this vehicle type
The R755 double-decker carriage, officially designated DABz 755, is a middle carriage used by Deutsche Bahn that was introduced in the early 1990s. These carriages were specially designed for regional transport and are characterised by their high capacity and modern features. The R755 carriages feature a combination of first and second class, with the upper and lower decks each divided into open-plan compartments. With an entry height of 1,150 mm, they are suitable for platforms with high entry. The cars are equipped with disc brakes and draw their power centrally from the train's busbar. Initially, they had an open toilet system, which was later replaced by a closed system. There are various subtypes of the R755, including the R755.0 with standard equipment and the R755.4, which is suitable for use with diesel locomotives. These variants were developed to meet the different requirements of regional transport. Local transport in Franconia The R755 carriages are mainly used in regional transport and were designed for platform heights of 1,150 mm. Their double-decker design offers a high passenger capacity, making them ideal for busy routes.
