Further information about this vehicle type

The R761 double-decker control car, officially designated DBbzfa 761, is an essential component of Deutsche Bahn's fourth generation of double-decker cars. These vehicles were manufactured between 1994 and 1997 by Deutsche Waggonbau AG (DWA) at its Görlitz plant and are specially designed for regional transport with high passenger volumes. The R761 coaches have an entry height of 600 mm (variant 761.0) or 760 mm (variant 761.2) and are therefore suitable for platforms of different heights. They are equipped with disc brakes and draw their power centrally from the train's pantograph. The vehicles are not air-conditioned, but have a closed toilet system. The lower deck has a large 2nd class compartment, a disabled-friendly toilet and a multi-purpose room with folding seats and spaces for wheelchairs, prams and bicycles. The upper deck consists of another large 2nd class compartment. The carriages are equipped with destination displays on the front and side walls, and the destination and stops are displayed inside. An automatic gangway facilitates barrier-free access. The R761 carriages are mainly used in regional transport and were designed for platform heights of 600 mm and 760 mm. Their double-decker design offers a high passenger capacity, making them ideal for busy routes.
