
The R762.0 double-deck control car, officially designated DABpbzfa 762.0, is a versatile and comfortable control car operated by Deutsche Bahn that was specially designed for regional transport with high passenger volumes. These vehicles were manufactured between 1995 and 1997 by Deutsche Waggonbau AG (DWA) at its Görlitz plant and belong to the third generation of double-decker coaches. With an entry height of 600 mm, the R762.0 coaches are suitable for low-entry platforms. They are equipped with air conditioning and a central power supply from the train busbar. The coaches are equipped with Görlitz VIII bogies and reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h. The braking system is of the KE-PR-A-mZ (D) type with an additional electric brake and emergency brake override. The upper deck is divided into a large 1st class compartment and a large 2nd class compartment. The lower deck has another large 1st class compartment, a disabled toilet and a multi-purpose room with folding seats and spaces for wheelchairs, prams and bicycles. The vehicles have an automatic gangway and destination displays on the front and side walls. The train destination and stops are displayed inside the carriage. The R762.0 carriages are mainly used in regional transport and were designed for platform heights of 600 mm. Their double-decker design offers a high passenger capacity, making them ideal for busy routes.
