Further information about this vehicle type

The R765 double-decker control car, officially designated DBpbzfa 765, belongs to the fourth generation of Deutsche Bahn double-decker cars and was introduced as part of the 1997 procurement series. These vehicles were specially designed for regional transport with high passenger volumes and are characterised by their modern equipment and accessibility. With an entry height of 600 mm, the R765 coaches are suitable for low-entry platforms. They have air conditioning and a central power supply from the train busbar. The coaches are equipped with modern bogies and reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The braking system is of the KE-PR-A-mZ (D) type with an additional electric brake and emergency brake override. The upper deck consists of a large 2nd class compartment, while the lower deck comprises another large 2nd class compartment, a multi-purpose area with folding seats and spaces for wheelchairs, bicycles and prams, as well as a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The entrance area at the driver's compartment is equipped with a fully automatic gangway that can serve platform heights from 380 to 760 mm above the top of the rail. The vehicles have modern passenger information systems with external train destination displays and internal passenger information displays. The announcement and display of stops is automatic via a satellite-based control system. The R765 cars are mainly used in regional transport and were designed for platform heights of 600 mm. Their double-deck design offers high passenger capacity, making them ideal for busy routes.
