Further information about this vehicle type

On behalf of the owner, we are offering for sale a MaK G 1203 BB, built in 1983, which is in working order. According to the owner, the four-axle diesel locomotive is in good condition and is currently in use for shunting duties. No maintenance work is currently required. This makes the locomotive particularly suitable for rail transport companies, port railways, industrial enterprises and works railways seeking a high-performance shunting locomotive. The MaK G 1203 BB is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive series manufactured by Maschinenbau Kiel. A total of 25 units of this locomotive type were built between 1982 and 1991. The series has a B’B’ wheel arrangement and was predominantly supplied to various railway operators in Germany. In the German rolling stock register, this vehicle type is listed under class number 98 80 0273. The locomotive on offer bears the NVR number 98 80 0273 007-1 and has EBO approval for Germany. The MaK G 1203 on offer is powered by an MTU 8V396 diesel engine with an output of 745 kW. The engine underwent a major overhaul in October 2020, at which point it had clocked up 93,139 operating hours. The locomotive currently has around 107,226 operating hours on the clock. The last workshop visit took place on 10 July 2026. The last major inspection was carried out on 9 November 2020. The inspection cycle is specified as ending on 9 November 2026 and, according to the sales brochure, may be extended until 9 November 2028 by utilising the available extension options. The specific eligibility for an extension must be verified by the buyer independently on the basis of the vehicle documentation and applicable regulations. With a length over buffers of 12,500 millimetres, a weight of 80 tonnes and a minimum manoeuvring radius of 60 metres, this diesel locomotive is compact and designed for demanding shunting tasks. The maximum speed of this particular locomotive is 45 km/h. Its technical specifications include a WS-GP-mZ braking system, a MESA 23 train radio system, a PZB train protection system and a radio remote control. The radio remote control enables flexible workflows, particularly during shunting operations. It is not fitted with a shunting coupler. The MaK G 1203 BB on offer combines a robust design with high-performance diesel technology and equipment suitable for shunting duties. Thanks to its radio remote control, German EBO approval and the fact that it is ready for immediate operation, it represents an attractive option for shunting, transfer and works traffic. The locomotive is available by arrangement. Viewings, access to the vehicle documentation and further technical discussions can be arranged should there be concrete interest in purchasing the locomotive.
