On behalf of the owner, we are offering a V 100 West of the 211 series, ready for operation, for sale. The diesel locomotive, built in 1961 by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK), bears the NVR number 92 80 1211 024-5 and has EBO approval for Germany. The locomotive is currently in shunting service and is available by arrangement. With a power output of 1,000 kW, a tractive force of 177 kN and a maximum speed of 100 km/h, the locomotive is suitable for shunting duties as well as for transfer, construction and freight services. The vehicle-specific details are taken from the The V 100 West was developed jointly by the Bundesbahn Central Office in Munich and MaK for the Deutsche Bundesbahn in the late 1950s. It was intended to replace steam locomotives on non-electrified branch lines and was used in particular for light passenger and freight train services. The version originally designated V 100.10 was given the class designation 211 in 1968. A total of 364 locomotives of this type were built between 1958 and 1963. In addition to MaK, Deutz, Henschel, Jung, Krupp, Krauss-Maffei and Maschinenfabrik Esslingen, amongst others, were involved in the manufacture. The locomotive on offer is the former V 100 1024. The locomotive was accepted on 8 December 1961 and re-registered as 211 024-5 in 1968. The factory number 1000042 and the current NVR number confirm the locomotive’s identity. Following its service with the Deutsche Bundesbahn and Deutsche Bahn, the locomotive was also used by a private railway company. The V 100 West on offer has been technically modernised compared to its original delivery condition. Whilst the Class 211 was originally fitted predominantly with 809 kW diesel engines, this locomotive, according to the sales brochure, is equipped with a CAT diesel engine delivering 1,000 kW. Power is transmitted via a Voith L 216rs gearbox. The locomotive thus combines the tried-and-tested design of the classic V 100 West with a more powerful engine. The four-axle diesel locomotive has a B’B’ wheel arrangement, a service weight of 62 tonnes and a minimum negotiable curve radius of 100 metres. The standard length of the Class 211 is 12,100 millimetres over buffers. The technical equipment of the locomotive on offer includes a KE-GP braking system, a MESA 26 train radio system and an I60 ER24 with PZB 90. The braking weight is 66 tonnes in braking position P and 52 tonnes in braking position G. According to the sales brochure, the vehicle has clocked up 47,600 operating hours. The last major inspection was carried out on 10 October 2018, and the last workshop visit took place in July 2026. The next major inspection is scheduled for 10 October 2026, meaning that a new major inspection will be required shortly. This foreseeable maintenance requirement should be taken into account in operational and investment planning. Nevertheless, the locomotive is currently listed as operational. This V 100 West, which is for sale, offers an interesting combination of historically proven vehicle design, modern CAT engine technology and German EBO approval. It is particularly suitable for railway operators, construction train operators, port railways and industrial branch lines seeking a second-hand diesel locomotive for shunting and mainline operations. Viewings, inspection of the vehicle documentation and further technical discussions are possible for those with a genuine interest in purchasing.
