A recently overhauled V 100 West diesel locomotive, class 211, is for sale. The BR 211 324-9 on offer was built in 1962 by Arnold Jung Lokomotivfabrik and bears the NVR number 92 80 1211 324-9 and the factory number 13 451. The locomotive is EBO-approved, operational and in good second-hand condition. It is currently in use on shunting duties. According to the sales brochure, no maintenance work is required. The V 100 West was developed by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in the late 1950s for use on non-electrified lines. It was intended, in particular, to replace steam locomotives in light passenger and freight services on these lines. From 1968 onwards, the V 100.10 was designated as the Class 211. Thanks to its diesel-hydraulic drive, four-axle design and versatile operational capabilities, it became one of the best-known diesel locomotives of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. After being taken out of service by the DB, numerous units were acquired by private rail operators and continued to be used for shunting, construction train and freight services. A particular advantage of the V 100 West on offer is its current maintenance status. The last major inspection was carried out on 1 April 2026, and the locomotive’s last visit to the workshop was also in April 2026. The maintenance schedule is specified in the prospectus as 31 March 2032, with the addition ‘+2’. This means the locomotive offers long-term operational prospects without the immediate need for a major inspection. According to the prospectus, the BR 211 has a power output of 1,000 kW, a maximum speed of 100 km/h and a service weight of 62 tonnes. Power is transmitted via four axles in two bogies with the wheel arrangement B’B’. With a running time of just 4,200 operating hours since the reference date – which is not specified in detail in the listing – the diesel locomotive offers an attractive basis for continued operation. Its equipment includes train radio and a train control system. It does not have radio remote control or a shunting coupler. Due to its compact design, tried-and-tested technology and recent general inspection, the V 100 West currently for sale is particularly suitable for rail transport companies, industrial railways and construction firms. Potential areas of use include shunting, transfer services, construction train services and regional freight transport on non-electrified lines. The locomotive is available by arrangement.
