A modernised V 100.4 diesel locomotive, registered as BR 202 535-1, is for sale. This four-axle locomotive belongs to the Deutsche Reichsbahn’s historic V 100 family, which was developed for light to medium-duty mainline service as well as heavy shunting duties. Its distinctive features include the central driver’s cab, the diesel-hydraulic power transmission and the B’B’ wheel arrangement. Thanks to their robust construction, locomotives of this class are still in use today in freight transport, shunting and for supplying railway construction sites, amongst other applications. The V 100.4 on offer was built in 1983 and bears the factory number 17732 and the NVR number 98 80 3202 535-1. The locomotive is registered as BR 202 535-1 and has German EBO approval. According to the prospectus, the diesel-hydraulic drive delivers 745 kW. With a tractive force of 207 kN, a weight of 64 tonnes and a top speed of 65 km/h, the diesel locomotive is particularly suitable for shunting duties, feeder services and heavy-duty work in regional rail operations. The identity of the locomotive as a V 100.4 built in 1983 with the factory number 17732 is also confirmed by external rolling stock databases. The BR 202 is 14,240 mm long and can negotiate track curves with a minimum radius of 80 metres. Its equipment includes a KE-GP compressed-air brake, PZB, a mobile GSM-R train radio and a radio remote control system from Cattron Theimeg. The radio remote control system in particular can offer a practical advantage during shunting operations and operational procedures involving frequent changes of direction. The locomotive has four axles and, according to the listing, has clocked up 39,731 operating hours. The second-hand V 100.4 is currently not in working order. Its last major inspection took place on 3 May 2018; according to the listing, the inspection validity period has expired since 1 May 2024. A major inspection is therefore required before it can be put back into service. For rail transport companies, works railways, maintenance organisations or rolling stock hire firms, the BR 202 currently for sale nevertheless offers an interesting basis for targeted refurbishment and subsequent use as a shunting or work locomotive.
