The R758.0 double-decker carriage, officially designated DABpz(a) 758.0, is a middle carriage used by Deutsche Bahn that combines both first and second class in a single vehicle. These carriages were built between 1998 and 2001 and are specially designed for regional transport with high passenger volumes. With an entry height of 1,150 mm, the R758.0 carriages are suitable for platforms with high entry. They have electric doors and LCD train destination displays. The seating layout varies depending on the conversion variant, for example 35 seats in first class and 73 in second class, or 20 in first class and 105 in second class. The cars are equipped with modern bogies and reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Over the years, various types of R758 underframes have been developed to meet the different requirements of regional transport. For example, some carriages were converted to the DABpz(a) 758.5 variant, which has a maximum speed of 160 km/h and is equipped with BiLED train destination displays. These conversions took place from 2000 onwards and were adapted for use in various regions. The R758 cars are mainly used in regional transport and were designed for platform heights of 1,150 mm.
