With a Bo’Bo’ wheel arrangement, a service weight of around 86 tonnes and an axle load of approximately 21.5 tonnes, the Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS combines high tractive effort with a compact design. The locomotive is 18,900 mm long and has a 2,977 mm wide body. A ZMS control system for up to two locomotives is provided for operation in double-unit formation. The braking equipment includes a UIC-compliant compressed-air brake, an electro-pneumatic brake, wheel-disc brakes and a spring-applied brake. The comprehensive control and safety technology supports flexible deployment on international routes. The equipment includes PZB and LZB for Germany and Austria, ETCS Level 1 with Euroloop for Austria, ETCS Levels 1 and 2 as well as ATB-vV for the Netherlands, and ETCS Levels 1 and 2 as well as TBL1+ for Belgium.
