Further information about this vehicle type

The Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS 186 152-5, a high-performance multi-system locomotive designed for international rail freight transport, is now for sale. Built in 2018, the locomotive bears the NVR number 91 80 6186 152-5 and the factory number 35419. Thanks to its existing country approvals for Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, this electric locomotive is particularly well-suited to cross-border freight transport on key European transport routes. The TRAXX F140 MS is designed for the four power supply systems: 15 kV/16.7 Hz AC, 25 kV/50 Hz AC, 1.5 kV DC and 3 kV DC. This means the locomotive can be used on both AC and DC networks. Depending on the route, this eliminates the need to change rolling stock at national and power supply system borders. This creates favourable conditions for end-to-end transport solutions between Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. On 3 kV DC and on 15 and 25 kV AC systems, the Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS delivers a power output of 5.6 MW. On the 1.5 kV DC network, 4.0 MW is available. With a starting tractive effort of 300 kN, the locomotive provides the necessary tractive force for heavy and demanding freight train operations. Its maximum speed is 140 km/h. Depending on national regulations, the electric brake develops a braking force of up to 150 kN. The four-axle locomotive has a Bo’Bo’ wheel arrangement and has a service weight of around 86 tonnes. This results in an axle load of approximately 21.5 tonnes. The locomotive body is 18,900 mm long and 2,977 mm wide. The drive concept comprises three-phase asynchronous motors, one mains power converter per bogie and the axle-mounted drive characteristic of this TRAXX series. For particularly demanding hauling tasks, dual-unit operation with a maximum of two locomotives is possible via the ZMS control system. For cross-border operations, the TRAXX F140 MS 186 152-5 is equipped with a comprehensive range of control and safety systems. The equipment includes PZB and LZB for Germany and Austria, ETCS Level 1 with Euroloop for Austria, ETCS Levels 1 and 2 as well as ATB-vV for the Netherlands, and ETCS Levels 1 and 2 as well as TBL1+ for Belgium. The ETCS version specified is SRS 2.3.0d. GSM-R and analogue radio are available depending on the respective operating corridor. The documented software version is VR09.6 or 9.6.0.9. The braking equipment is also designed for versatile freight train operations. It comprises a compressed-air brake in accordance with UIC 541-03, an electro-pneumatic brake, wheel-disc brakes and a spring-applied brake. Various pantographs for the AC and DC networks in use complement the multi-system capability. The TRAXX F140 MS 186 152-5 is therefore an attractive purchase option for railway operators, leasing companies and operators seeking a modern electric freight locomotive for international services. The locomotive is available by arrangement.
